In accordance with the recommendations from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Government of Georgia aimed at preventing the spread of novel Coronavirus, the Central Election Commission (CEC) issued an Ordinance - №20/2020 (available in Georgian) on March 24, 2020. The CEC provides consent to the Director of the Training Centre to make amendments to the implementation periods of grant projects submitted through the Grant Competition announced on February 6, 2020.
Implementation period of grant projects have been revised the following way:
- First Direction - Support of political parties’ electoral capacity development - from June 1, 2020 – August 31, 2020, instead of May 1, 2020 – July 31, 2020
- Second Direction - Young voters in the electoral process - from June 1, 2020 – July 31, 2020, instead of May 1, 2020 – June 30, 2020.
Additionally, the following clause was introduced:
- In accordance with the measures taken through the recommendations from World Health Organization (WHO) and the Government of Georgia aimed at preventing the spread of novel Coronavirus, the Grant Competition Commission may further amend the implementation period for the grant projects with a range, furthest to October 30, 2020 (with no changes to the overall duration of grant projects– 3 months for the First Direction; 2 months for the Second Direction);
- The furthest dates to start implementation of grant projects are the following: August 1, 2020 for the projects submitted on the First Direction of the competition; September 1, 2020 for the projects submitted on the Second Direction of the competition. If - due to the circumstances listed in the paragraph above - there is no possibility to launch grant projects on the furthest dates mentioned above, the Grant Competition Commission's decision on funding the NGOs will be revoked.
