Information about the Grant Competition Results

As part of the grants competition announced by the Training Center on February 18, 2019, at the decision of the Competition Committee, 47 NGOs were funded for the following directions:

  • First direction- raising voter awareness for the Parliament of Georgia Interim Elections scheduled for May, 2019, for interim Elections of Sakrebulo – Municipality Representative body and Snap Elections of Municipality Mayors.
  • Second direction - support raising electoral awareness and civic culture of young voters

23 grant project proposals submitted by NGOs were funded under Informing Voters direction and envisage awareness raising campaign for Parliamentary By-elections of Georgia, Sakrebulo By-elections and Extraordinary Mayoral Elections May 19, 2019. The awareness-raising will involve informing voters about the importance of citizen participation in governance of the country through elections, as well as legislative mechanisms for exercising electoral rights.

Based on the goal of the topic, 7 geographic areas for grant projects implementation have been determined, according to the locations where Interim Parliament of Georgia, Interim Sakrebulo – Municipality Representative body, and Snap Municipality Mayor’s Elections are held, specifically, Mtatsminda, Marneuli, Zestaponi, Chiatura, Zugdidi, Khulo, Sagarejo, Akhmeta, Adigeni, Tkibuli, Tskaltubo and Ozurgeti election districts.

The funded grant projects will be implemented from April 15 to May 15, 2019. The total amount granted to NGOs is GEL 452948,26.

Grant project proposals submitted by 24 NGOs funded under the direction of Raising Electoral Awareness and Civic Culture of Young Voters envisage civic education of young voters. The initiative will be oriented at informing young voters about the importance of democratic elections and voter participation in the governance of the country through elections, the rule of state setup and the formation of elective bodies, the principle of accountability between the electorate and elected bodies, promotion of elections and other matters aimed at raising civic responsibility.

Based on the goal, funded grant projects will be implemented throughout the country (Tbilisi, Kakheti, Kvemo Kartli, Shida Kartli, Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti, Samegrelo and Zemo Svaneti, Guria and Adjara) during April 15 to June 15, 2019. Total grant funding to NGOs is GEL 717754,05.
