For the October 2, 2021 Elections of Representative Body of the Municipality – Sakrebulo and Mayor of Self-Governing City/Self-Governing Community, the Training Centre has commenced the re-training of election administration trainers.
The trainings will be held through the period of August 11 to August 21. After passing the training of trainers, re-trained election administration trainers and members of District Election Commissions (DEC), who participate in the training project as trainers, will provide intensive training programs for Precinct Election Commission (PEC) members related to election legislation.
The CEC chairperson Giorgi Kalandarishvili and the Training Centre Director Natia Zaalishvili opened the event. The CEC Chairman emphasized the importance of professional training of PEC members in the election process. The Training Centre Director introduced in detail the participants to the new concept developed in connection with the trainings of PEC members, according to which it is provided:
Emphasis was placed on strengthening the practical methodology component in the trainings (it is provided episodic staging of the voting day process, many new practical exercises have been developed, which focuses on promoting the professional knowledge and practical skills of PEC members, icluding the issue of filling in the summary protocol of the voting results).
According to the updated concept, in the format of intensive profile training, the members of the Precinct Election Commissions will receive detailed information on the activities to be carried out by the election commission before the polling day and on the polling day, which aims to increase the efficiency of the activities of the election commission, ensuring a safe election environment during the pandemic, improving relevant services for stakeholders and voters, as well as promoting the involvement of people with disabilities.
The innovations developed by the Training Center responds to the recommendations reflected in the 2020 election reports of the observer organizations in regard to the promoting the qualification of the PEC members.
