From July 13, 2015, the pilot project Electoral Development School 2015 will be launched. The project will conclude on July 24, 2015. As part of the project, youth between 17 up to 25 years of age will have an opportunity to take a training course and gain necessary knowledge around electoral issues.
At electoral development schools, interested individuals will be able to obtain information about such important issues as: electoral systems, electoral administration, democratic electoral principles, elective bodies in Georgia, elections monitoring, access to elections and gender equality.
Textbooks and other training materials for the training course were developed by the Center of Electoral Systems Development, Reforms and Training, in collaboration with the CEC representatives.
Furthermore, the Training Center ensures delivery of special trainings for trainers for those representatives of the Election Administration who will lead the training course in electoral development schools. The mentioned schools will be opening in 10 election districts – Telavi, Sighnaghi, Akhaltsikhe, Marneuli, Gori, Rustavi, Kutaisi, Zugdidi, Ozurgeti and Batumi.
To be able to take the course, interested candidates have to complete an application (See the attached document) and submit to any district election commission, from July 1 through July 8. They should have their ID document with them at the time of submitting an application.
The CEC and the Training Center are implementing the project in cooperation with Georgia Young Lawyers’ Association (GYLA) and International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), through financial support from the Council of Europe (CoE) and the US Agency for International Development (USAID).
