To ensure effective and highly skilled coverage of electoral processes by mass media the Center of Electoral Systems Development, Reforms and Trainings is launching a training program for the representatives of regional media; the training is implemented under the aegis of the Central Election Commission of Georgia.
As part of the Training the participants will be familiarized with the updates of the electoral legislation; the following important topics will be discussed: the role of mass media in the electoral processes, the rights of mass media, and activities of precinct election commissions on the polling day. The expert from the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) will brief the participants about international experience and principal schemes for the coverage of elections. Furthermore, as part of the practical portion of the training the training film Polling Day Procedures produced by the Center of Electoral Systems Development, Reforms and Trainings will be shown.
The trainings will be held: on May 17 in Kutaisi (21b, Grigol Khanzteli Str., Hotel Rcheuli Palace), on May 18 in Batumi (28, Rustaveli Str., Hotel Sheraton) and on May 21 in Tbilisi (# 1, May 26 Square, Hotel Holiday Inn).
The partners of the project are International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), the Association of Regional Broadcasters of Georgia and the Regional Media Association.
