The Election Administration, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia, is implementing a training course titled "Democratic Elections and the Electoral Environment" for public school civil education teachers.

As part of the project, representatives from the LEPL Centre for Electoral Systems Development, Reforms and Training (Training Centre) are sharing practical experience in electoral education with more than 500 civil education teachers. These teachers will later pass this knowledge on to their students, ensuring that youth receive information about the importance of elections and electoral rights from school age.

On April 21, a session of the project was held at the Lagodekhi Educational Resource Center. The event was opened by the Deputy Chairperson of the CEC, Giorgi Sharabidze, and the Director of the Training Centre, Natia Zaalishvili. They emphasized the vital role of civil education teachers in raising electoral awareness among youth. As the heads of the CEC and the Training Center noted, the goal of this joint partnership is to provide teachers with necessary informational tools within their professional competence. This will further facilitate the introduction of electoral innovations and technological progress to students during lessons and increase the younger generation's interest in electoral processes.

The specialized program developed by the Training Centre covers the following key topics: the importance of the voter's role and aspects of political culture; principles of conducting elections and international standards; trends in election modernization and the use of electronic technologies in the voting process; realization of electoral rights, secrecy, and security during the polling process; an inclusive electoral environment; electoral services offered to voters by the Election Administration of Georgia.

At the end of the course, teachers will receive a supportive resource package developed by the Training Center. This includes electoral topics for discussion with students, reading materials for further exploration, practical exercises, and methodological recommendations to ensure the effective management of the classroom process.

The project has been ongoing since 2024, but it has reached a new scale this year. It covers 28 municipalities, including those populated by ethnic minorities, and is being implemented from April 1 to May 7.
