The CEC and the Training Centre continue informational-study campaign to raise youth's electoral awareness. At the current stage, from February 17 to March 7, 2025, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, a large-scale informational-study project "Elections and Young Voters" will be implemented in public schools.
The implementation area includes 360 public schools located in 64 municipalities, including 56 public schools located in 13 municipalities densely populated by ethnic minorities (Telavi, Lagodekhi, Sagarejo, Gardabani, Rustavi, Marneuli, Bolnisi, Dmanisi, Tetritskaro, Tsalka, Akhaltsikhe, Akhalkalaki, Ninotsminda).
The project serves the complex task of developing civic culture and improving an inclusive electoral environment. The program focuses on young people who will have their first experience with elections in the near future. Students in grades XI-XII of public schools will get acquainted with the following key issues within the framework of the informational-study course developed by the Training Centre: the essence of elections in the process of country’s democratic development and the importance of the role of voters; history of the development of democratic elections in Georgia and modernized elections; basic principles and international standards for conducting democratic elections; inclusive electoral environment and gender equality in the electoral process; elective state bodies; Election Administration and election services offered to voters; other parties involved in the elections and their role in the process of conducting democratic elections; the importance of an electoral environment free from hate speech and disinformation.
The program will be implemented based on a practical training methodology, which will be conducted by 101 trainers trained by the Training Centre.
The informational-study project "Elections and Young Voters" has been implementing since 2015. To date, the program has been completed by approximately 33,500 students in grades XI-XII from 1,706 public schools located in 64 municipalities.
