The CEC and the Training Centre actively continue their work in the direction of electoral civic education, which is defined as a priority task in accordance with the 2025 Action Plan. According to the concept developed for this purpose, special attention will be conceded to young people.
The Training Centre starts the 2025 informational-study cycle by implementing an authorial program in the field of electoral law at partner universities. The program is offered in the Spring/Autumn semester study grid of higher education institutions. The beneficiaries of the project are III-IV degree bachelor's program students from the faculty of Law, Social Sciences and Journalism, which, according to the syllabus developed considering the profile areas are introduced to domestic regulations related to the elections and international electoral practice.
An important component of the university program updated by the Training Centre for 2025 is related to provide students with information regarding the local government elections to be held in October this year and relevant legislative developments. The meeting held by the Training Centre with the lecturers on February 5 was dedicated to discussing the mentioned issues.
In the format of detailed briefing, representatives of the Training Centre introduced the lecturers to the updated training modules, practical exercises, and resources developed for conducting the course. The focus was drawn to the modernization of elections and electronic technological innovations. The Spring 2025 semester will start at partner universities on February 17.
The meeting participants also summarized the previous stages of the project. In the Spring and Autumn semesters of 2024, the study program was held at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, East European University, Ilia State University, Caucasus International University, Gori State University, Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University, Samtskhe-Javakheti State University, Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, Grigol Robakidze University and the Batumi branch of the same university. 945 students participated in the program (including 564 women, 381 men).
The Training Centre has been implementing the authorial program in the field of electoral law at partner universities in Tbilisi and the regions since 2010. To date, about 9 000 students have completed the study program.
