The Centre for Electoral Systems Development, Reforms and Training (Training Centre) actively cooperates with the higher educational institutions of Georgia. Each year, in the spring and fall semesters, students are given the opportunity to take an authorial program developed by the Training Centre for education in the field of election law.
The program is based on a modern teaching strategy - great attention is paid to improving students' theoretical knowledge and professional skills in practice. Students of the undergraduate program of the Faculty of Law, Social Sciences and Journalism are introduced to domestic regulations related to elections and international election practice, they receive information on electronic technological innovations introduced to modernize elections, as well as on election services offered to voters by the election administration.
At this stage, the Training Centre in the partner universities is launching another semester of teaching (autumn semester of the 2023-2024 academic year). The teaching process will be led by lecturers trained by the Training Centre. The training program echoes the strategic priority of the election administration and aims to strengthen the electoral culture among young people and train field specialists with the competence to match modern requirements.
2022-2023 spring semestrial teaching was carried out at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Grigol Robakidze University (Tbilisi and Batumi representative office), Ilia State University, East European University, Gori State Teaching University, Yakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University and Samtskhe-Javakheti State University. 454 students participated in it.
The authoial program of the Training Centre has been implemented since 2010 in partner universities operating in Tbilisi and regions. To date, about 7,700 students have completed the training program.
