On March 2, 2023, LEPL Centre for Electoral Systems Development, Reforms and Training (Training Center) started implementing the training program for the development of trainer’s professional skills.
The chairman of the Central Election Commission of Georgia, Giorgi Kalandarishvili, and the director of the Training Centre, Natia Zaalishvili made the opening remarks. As the heads of the CEC and the Training Centre emphasized, raising voters' awareness about the technologies introduced in the polling process in accordance with the reform and informing the involved parties is a strategic task, and in order to ensure the aforementioned, the need to develop and strengthen the corps of trainers was determined.
For the purposes of retraining the resources of potential trainers, the Training Centre has developed a profile training program, which includes the following main issues focused on the development of the trainer's professional skills: planning and structure of the training; training program design; methodology of holding the training; summarizing/evaluation mechanisms of the training; techniques for elaborating and using trainer's manual/guide; presentation and other professional skills. Beneficiaries of the program will also get aquatinted with the aspects of the implementation of the voting process using voters’ verification and electronic vote counting machines.
The training program will be implemented until March 12, and up to 120 persons selected as potential trainers based on the competition announced by the CEC and the Training Centre on January 20, 2023 will participate in it.
The trainings will be conducted in three streams, for six groups (Stream I: March 2-4; Stream II: March 6-8; Stream III: March 10-12). A three-day practical training is defined for each group, which is provided by the employees of the Training Centre. In accordance with the results of the training program, the possibility of involvement of the trainers' resource in various information-educational programs to be implemented under the auspices of the CEC and the training center is considered.
