In order to promote the development of electoral culture, Election Administration continues the informational-training campaign. Within the framework of this campaign, the CEC and the Training Center, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, launched a new educational project.
The aim of the project is to promote the development of inclusive election environment and in this regard, strengthen the information-educational component on the issues of the essence of democratic elections and the importance of citizen participation in elections in public schools located in regions densely populated by ethnic minorities.
According to the pilot project, on May 10 and 11, 2022, the heads of the CEC and the Training Center met with the civil education teachers of Kvemo Kartli and Samtskhe-Javakheti public schools. CEC Chairperson Giorgi Kalandarishvili and CEC Deputy Chairman Giorgi Sharabidze discussed in detail the role of elections in the democratic development of the state and the importance of involvement of youth in the electoral process. Head of the Department of Preschool and General Education Development of the Ministry Lali Kalandadze briefed about the importance of the re-training of civic education teachers of public schools in order to promote the electoral awareness of youth within the expert experience of the CEC Training Center.
Training Centre Director Natia Zaalishvili introduced the participants the training program concept elaborated by the training Centre for the re-training of teachers, which covers important issues such as: the importance and place of the citizen's suffrage in the spectrum of political rights; the essence of democratic elections and elected state bodies in Georgia; Georgian election history excurse and modern election environment (modern election services offered to voters by the election administration are considered, including steps taken to strengthen the inclusive election environment)
On May 10 – 11 Training Centre hold the training program “Democratic Elections and Electoral Environment” in remote format. 51 teachers of basic and intermediate level participated in it (I stream: 25 teachers from Azerbaijani sector; II stream: 26 teachers from Armenian sector). Re-trained civic education teachers will continue to work with the relevant school students and school community representatives.
Current year pilot project will be implemented in 25 public schools located in 8 municipalities (Akhalkalaki, Akhaltsikhe, Ninotsminda, Bolnisi, Gardabani, Dmanisi, Marneuli, Tsalka).
