Today, an informational meeting was held with deaf voters and voters with hearing impairments on E-day procedures. Giorgi Kalandarishvili, Chairperson of the Central Election Commission (CEC), Natia Zaalishvili, Director of Electoral Systems Development, Reforms and Training Centre (Training Centre), and Amiran Batatunashvili, Chair of Union of Blinds, opened the meeting.
The election administration aims to create an inclusive electoral environment so that every voter has an equal opportunity to participate in the elections, according to the CEC’s Chairperson.
At the meeting, a trainer of CEC’s Training Centre delivered the presentation on the participation of deaf voters and voters with hearing impairments in the elections. Additionally, participants were provided with information about the services available to them along with polling day procedures.
Participants of the informational meeting got familiarized with the pilot project which will be carried out on October 2 in N4 Krtsanisi electoral district. Within pilot project, the elections in the mentioned district will be held using electronic technologies.
The informational meeting was held remotely via the “Zoom” platform at the initiative of CEC’s Working Group on Issues of Persons with Disabilities.
