CEC Training Centre is conducting informational meetings with the members of 73 District Election Commissions. Full composition of the DECs is participating in the program.
The aim of the project is to support institutional strengthening of DECs in order to ensure effective management of election operations for October 2, 2021 Municipal Elections.
CEC Chairman Giorgi Kalandarishvili and Director of the Training Center Natia Zaalishvili opened the event. They stressed that in order to carry out a high standard of activities for the elections, it is important to strengthen uniform practices for the implementation of legislative regulations, and the constructive, team work of the members of the district election commissions.
Informational meetings for the 18 groups staffed with the 1241 members of 73 DECs will be conducted in online format, through the period of September 1 – 5.
Participants are introduced in detail to the following key issues: mandate of DEC; review of authorities and professional ethics; involvement of DECs in the pre-election agitation/campaign and restrictions; compiling, publishing voter lists and verification; coordination/communication with PECs; election day procedures and epidemiological protocol; receiving/sorting documents from the PEC after the voting ends; verification/recounting of PEC voting results; summarizing the polling and election results by the DECs.
In order to ensure inclusive environment, DEC members are also provided with the information about services for voters with disabilities in order to facilitate their participation in the voting.
