On April 20, 2019, the Training Center and the CEC Legal Department held an informational meeting for the leadership and lawyers of DECs involved in May 19, 2019 Parliamentary By-elections of Georgia, Sakrebulo By-elections and Extraordinary Mayoral Elections. The above-mentioned initiative is in line with the recommendations stipulated in the reports of international and local observer organizations and is aimed at enhancing the capacity of DECs to conduct electoral disputes related administrative proceedings.
Natia Zaalishvili, Training Center Director, and Giorgi Dzagania, Head of CEC Legal Department opened the working meeting. They highlighted the importance of professional and effective work of DECs to ensure high quality elections. Archil Anasashvili and Giorgi Chikaberidze, CEC members also attended the meeting.
The participants discussed various important electoral disputes' related matters, among them: launching administrative proceedings in conjunction with polling day applications/complaints; DEC decisions regarding applications/complaints; organizing DEC session; drafting decision on administrative violations. The participants were also acquainted with the results of analysis of legal acts issued by DECs during 2018 Elections and received relevant recommendations.
