During August 20-30, 2018, a contest Youth Debate - Club 2018 organized by the Training Center was held. The above-mentioned initiative was implemented in partnership with 8 NGOs funded under the grant competition announced on February 8, 2018 and was aimed at raising awareness of young voters and promoting civic engagement in the electoral process.
The goal of Youth Debate - Club is to support raising civic awareness and culture among youth, enhance their interest towards electoral processes, enhance their professional skills involving supporting the development of fast thinking and taking team to decision in short timeframe, mastering a speaker’s role and developing skills of defending their own posision.
Youth Debare - Club 2018 was implemented in three stages:
Team stages - 8 teams took part in the contest and 4 winners were identified; debate topic – Active suffrage should be allowed from the age of 16;
Semi-final - 4 group stage winners took part in this stage; debate topic – Active suffrage should be mandatory;
Final – 2 semi-final winners took part in this stage of the contest – Good Governance Institute and Rehabilitation and Development Charity Foundation "Tanaziari". Debate topic – Electronic Elections is a Good Method.
A jury identified a winning team. The jury was comprised of leadership of the CEC, the Training Center, and Tbilisi DECs, as well as representatives of local and international NGOs.
Rehabilitation and Development Charity Foundation "Tanaziari" team was identified as winner. Certificates were awarded to the participants.
The Training Center continues implementing the projects aimed at promoting raised civic awareness and electoral culture of youth for the Presidential Elections, October 28, 2018.
