Potential women candidates willing to run in the upcoming parliamentary elections, set on October 8th of 2016, are taking part in the training course on August 5-6. The training covers several topics, namely: the procedure of registration of majoritarian candidates, the expenses of an election campaign and the deadline for the submission of the report, administrative resources, and electoral dispute resolution; Deputy Chair of the CEC Giorgi Sharabidze and the Director of the Training Center Natia Zaalishvili made opening remarks at today’s training. Zurab Khrikadze, the Commissioner and the Chair of the Gender Council at the CEC also welcomed participants. He talked about the gender equality in elections and introduced the activities of the CEC's Gender Council to the training participants.
"The CEC along with the Training Center continues organizing various educational projects in order to ensure the conduct of the upcoming Parliamentary Elections 2016 in an inclusive, transparent and fair environment for each and every voter.”-noted Giorgi Sharabidze during the interview.
Within a framework of the program, 53 potential female candidates participated from various political parties and initiative groups. The informative and educational project was implemented by the CEC and its Training Center in collaboration with the State Audit Office of Georgia. The afore-mentioned initiative is aimed to strengthen women's participation in the election process.
