According to the Concept of Trainings (available in Georgian) developed by the Training Center for the Parliamentary By-elections of Georgia and Extraordinary Mayoral Elections, first stage trainings for PEC members were held on April 23-24. Course was focused on PEC leadership training.

As part of the profile training program, the participants were acquainted with the following key matters:

  • activities of PECs during the period up to the voting day;
  • organizational, supervision and response powers of PEC leadership in the process of managing electoral operations on the voting day;
  • rights of persons authorized to be present in the polling station;
  • voters’ personal data protection;
  • communication/coordination with DECs;
  • summarizing polling results at the election commission and fill out voting results summary protocol.

To promote enhanced procedural knowledge of PEC leadership, the trainings were delivered using a combined methodology; this includes episodic role-plays by participants to enhance practical skills. As part of the practical teaching, PEC leadership was also acquainted with the matters of participation of voters with disabilities in elections via a video and they had received relevant instructions.

987 head officials from 393 PECs pass the trainings, among them women - 628, men – 359. For detailed statistics please follow the link.
