From April 20, 2015, the Center of Electoral Systems Development, Reforms and Training commenced the project of Supporting Raising Civic Awareness for the adolescents and youth in orphanages and alternative child care facilities. The project is implemented based on the memorandum among the Central Election Commission of Georgia, the Center of Electoral Systems Development, Reforms and Training, the Social Services Agency, LEPL and the Association Georgia SOS Children’s’ Village, NCLE.
Giorgi Sharabidze, Deputy Chair of the CEC, Natia Zaalishvili, Director of the Training Center, and Niko Mikadze, Senior Teacher of the Tbilisi SOS Children’s’ Village welcomed the participants. They talked about such important issues as the essence of democratic elections and the importance of the role of each voter in elections, equal rights and opportunities for women and men in public and political life, and supporting raised activeness of youth in the elections process.
The first stage of the project – a two-week training course, will be implemented by the Training Center in the Tbilisi SOS Children’s’ Village from April 20 through May 1, 2015. And the second stage of the training, another two-week course will be held in the Kutaisi SOS Children’s’ Village from May 4 through May 15, 2015.

The participants will be able to watch the training film produced by the Training Center – Polling Day Procedures, and will perform imitation of the polling day as part of practical training.
