On September 22-26, 2014, the discussions around elections sustainability management planning were held in Prague. The event was organized by the European Regional Office of the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES). The delegation of the Central Election Commission of Georgia, headed by Ms. Tamar Zhvania, and Ms. Natia Zaalishvili, Director of CEC Training Center, participated in the discussions. The meetings were also attended by NGO sector representatives from various organizations registered in Georgia.
Main goal of the meetings was the development of the elections sustainability management planning model; this, in turn, involved the discussion of such important issues as: methodologies, strategies (including provision of training programs related to election sphere etc. ) and essential means necessary for decreasing the risk before the election process (including, security of elections and ensuring computer security, calculation and summarizing of final results, administrative safeguards, etc.).
Kathryne Barnes, Director of IFES Regional Office, together with Nermin Nisic, Head of the IFES Project in Georgia, delivered to the participants of the meeting, presentations prepared as a result of the assessment mission in Georgia. CEC representatives also received the recommendations from various experts in the direction of supporting elections sustainability management planning.
