A presentation of the 2024/2025 Election Reports and the new web platform, the “Disinformation Registry,” was held at the Central Election Commission (CEC). The event was attended by representatives of partner public and private institutions, the diplomatic corps, and international organizations.
The CEC Chairperson Giorgi Kalandarishvili opened the event and presented to the invited guests the report on the 26 October 2024 Parliamentary Elections of Georgia and the 4 October 2025 Municipal Elections. The CEC Chairperson spoke in detail about the activities implemented by the Election Administration to ensure the professional and effective administration of the elections. As noted by Giorgi Kalandarishvili, the Election Administration carried out its work in line with the 2023–2026 Strategy, which is based on three key priorities: improving the electoral environment, strengthening institutional capacity, and advancing technological development. According to the CEC Chairperson, the public presentation of the report serves as an important instrument of accountability, transparency, and institutional responsibility, and contributes to strengthening public trust in electoral processes.
As noted by the CEC Chairperson, during both nationwide elections the Election Administration administered large-scale, modernized elections, in which nearly 90 percent of voters were provided with the opportunity to participate in voting using electronic election technologies. As a result of unprecedented preparatory and operational efforts, the electoral process was properly planned and organized at all stages. The Election Administration ensured the successful implementation of technologies and the conduct of both elections in accordance with international standards.
The second part of the event was dedicated to the presentation of the “Disinformation Registry.” As noted by the CEC Chairperson, the web platform was developed, taking into account international experience, with the aim of strengthening information security in electoral processes. The new website, disinfo.cec.gov.ge, addresses the challenges related to the deliberate dissemination of disinformation, which has a negative impact on the electoral environment.
The Registry is a public, transparent, and systematized platform that brings together disinformation statements and narratives aimed at shaping misleading perceptions within society and discrediting the electoral process.
It is noteworthy that, alongside disinformation, the Registry also presents relevant, verified, and fact-based accurate information, enabling citizens to obtain reliable information from a primary source. The platform contributes to raising public awareness and fostering an objective understanding of electoral processe.
The CEC Chairperson noted that, alongside other tools, the “Disinformation Registry” represents one of the Election Administration’s key instruments for open communication, prevention, and the creation of a trust-based electoral environment, and that its development will continue in the future.
