Through the Period of February 12-29, 2024, the CEC and the Training Centre implemented large scale Informational-Training Course “Elections and Young Voter” in public schools. Project covered 353 public schools located in 64 municipalities.
within the framework of the program updated considering the electoral reform, students of XI-XII degrees received information on the following key issues: modernization of elections and international practice in this direction; novelties in conducting the polling process with electoral technologies (devices); the importance of the voter's role and the election services implemented for them; importance of the voter's role and the election services implemented for them; realization of the right to vote, secrecy and protection during the polling process; the importance of an inclusive election environment and the promotion of independent participation of disabled voters in the voting process using electoral machines. Pupils also underwent practical training; mock elections were held with their participation.
101 trainers trained by the Training Centre implemented the project. Young people evaluated the course positively. In the feedback format, they noted that useful information about elections received from school age helps young people adapt to election novelties and make them active, informed voters.
Training program was passed by the 7412 students from 353 public schools (women – 3031; men - 4381), among them 1085 students (women – 658; men - 427) form 54 public schools in the regions populated by the ethnic minorities (Telavi, Lagodekhi, Sagarejo, Gardabani, Rustavi, Marneuli, Bolnisi, Dmanisi, Tetritskharo, Tsalka, Akhaltsikhe, Akhalkalaki, Ninostminda).
The project is being implemented from 2015, and aims to raise the electoral awareness and promote the growth of civic responsibility among youth. To date, up to 33500 students of XI-XII degree from 1706 public schools located in 64 municipalities have passed the information-training course.
