Another meeting of the Working Group on Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) is held at the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Georgia.
The meeting was inaugurated by the CEC Chairperson, Giorgi Kalandarishvili, highlighting that ensuring the creation of equal opportunities and electoral environment for each voter is the key priority for the Election Administration (EA) of Georgia. The focus of today’s meeting was the project of the roadmap on engagement of beneficiaries of support in elections.
“Today, we have presented the new project to the representatives from organizations and various state institutions working on the issues of PwDs - the roadmap, aiming at defining relevant instructions for informing beneficiaries of support and ensuring their independent participation in elections. To ensure the upgrading of the roadmap, sharing their opinions and recommendations is of utmost importance for us. I would like to express my sincere gratitude towards the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), which engaged with its expertise in the drafting process of this document” – emphasized Giorgi Kalandarishvili.
The Head of Strategic Planning and Reporting Department and the Chairperson of the Working Group on Persons with Disabilities, Sophio Sitchinava, elaborated on the project of the roadmap. Furthermore, the members of the Working Group posed their opinions.
“The roadmap describes each procedure related to the participation of beneficiaries of support in elections. It entails provisions on significance of elections, electoral procedures as well as means of communication which the beneficiary of support may use for engaging in electoral process”. – noted Sophio Sitchinava.
The workshop of the Working Group on Persons with Disabilities was held today at the CEC of Georgia.
