As part of the memorandum of cooperation with partner universities, the Training Center implemented an authorial electoral law program at 9 Universities during the 2021-2022 academic year spring semester.
399 students (252 female, 147 male) from Caucasus's International University; Ilia State University; East European University; Alte University; Grigol Robakidze University; Gori State Teaching University; Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University; Samtskhe-Javakheti State University and Akaki Tsereteli Kutaisi State University took the semestraial course.
As part of the program, bachelor’s students of the faculties of law, social sciencies and journalism were provided detailed information about national regulations related to elections and disussed international electoral practices. It is worth to mention that with participation of the students of law faculty in 6 universities simulated trials were held. This component aims to promote the development of young people's practical skills along with deepening their professional knowledge.
As a novelty, in partnership with the election administration and the Training Centre, a cycle of informational meetings with the heads of district election commissions were held with students within the current semester training course in universities. This initiative was implemented within the framework of the informational campaign "Talking to Voters", the purpose of which is to strengthen the communication of the election administration with the voters and provide them with information on various important election issues. Focusing on the growth of election awareness among the youth, the representatives of district election commissions introduced the news regarding the election reform to the students, as well as shared information about the election services offered to the voters and the technological innovations that the election administration implemented as a pilot in the election process recently.
At the end of the educational program, including July 20, 2022, the students passed the final exams. The lecturers of the Training Center conducted the training process face-to-face and using online platforms.
The next stage of the election law training program will begin in the Autumn semester of the 2022-2023 academic year. The Training Center’s authorial program has been implemented since 2010. Up to 7000 students have taken the program to date. Since 2022, the area of cooperation has increased and a new partner University, Alterbridge, has joined the program.
