The Training Center, in cooperation with the CEC, conducted a series of seminars "Informed Young Voters" with students of 8 partner universities through the period of May 13-27, 2022.
The information-training program focused on the students of initial grade from different faculties who have less electoral experience due to their age. The young people were informed about the international standards of democratic elections and the guarantees for the realization of the right to vote, including the importance of an inclusive electoral environment and favorable conditions. Electoral technologies were also discussed at the meetings, students were informed in detail about the pilot project implemented by the election administration, which includes the use of electronic technologies in the electoral process. As part of the informational campaign, the young people were also met with the headofficials of CEC and Training Center, who briefed in detail about the role of the electorate in the democratic election process, the negative impact of disinformation and in this direction the need to increase voter awareness.
Seminars at partner universities were held in face-to-face and distance format, with the participation of more than 200 students of Ilia State University, Caucasus International University, Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University, Alte University, Guram Tavartkiladze Tbilisi Teaching University, Grigol Robakidze University, Davit Agmashenebeli University of Georgia and Samtskhe-Javakhety State University. In a feedback format the participants of the program evaluated the training course positively and noted the need for systematic implementation of similar informational programs by the election administration in order to raise the electoral awareness of young people, including potential first voters.
The seminars with the students were conducted within the framework of the information-training campaign "Promoting Youth Involvement in the Open Government Process" and are focused on popularizing elections, promoting the development of young people as active and informed voters.
