The Central Election Commission and the Center for Electoral Systems Development, Reforms and Training continue a series of seminars with students of initial grade from various faculties at partner universities.
An informational meeting on the topic "Informed Young Voters" was held with students of Caucasus International University this time. CEC Chairman Giorgi Kalandashvili and Training Centre Director Natia Zaalishvili opened the event. In his welcoming speech, the CEC Chairman spoke in detail about the importance of strengthening the electoral culture in order to successfully fulfil the task of democratic development of the country, with the relevant reforms. The director of the Training Center focused on the role of the informed voter and the need for continuous implementation of programs aimed at raising of electoral awareness.
In the second part of the meeting, the trainer of the training center conducted a seminar. Students were informed about international standards for democratic elections and guarantees for the exercise of the right to vote, including the importance of an inclusive electoral environment and contributing conditions. Electoral technologies were also discussed at the meeting and students were informed in detail about the pilot project implemented by the election administration, which involves the use of electronic technologies in the electoral process.
The seminars with the students are carried out within the framework of the information-training campaign "Promoting Youth Involvement in the Open Government Process" and are focused on popularizing elections, promoting the development of young people as active and informed voters.
