In order to promote the development of an inclusive election environment, CEC Training Centre held an informational meeting on "Promoting Women's Capacity Development for Exercising Passive Suffrage".
Election subjects registered for October 2, 2021 Municipal Elections were invited to participate in the program (political parties/initiative groups).
CEC Chairman Giorgi Kalandarishvili and Director of the Training Center Natia Zaalishvili opened the event. They reviewed legislative novelties aimed at increasing the participation of women candidates in elections and expressed readiness within the mandate, to promote women's participation in the election process and increase their awareness on election issues through the implement of the training projects.
During the information meeting, the representatives of the Training Centre discussed the following key issues with the participants: gender equality in elections; major legislative novelties regarding municipal elections; rules and terms of registration of Sakrebulo members/mayoral candidate; pre-election campaign (agitation) and prevention of misappropriation of administrative resources; fighting with the hate speech in the election process; prevention of cyberbullying; legal status of election subject representatives (communication with election commissions; polling day; election disputes).
Informational meeting was held in online format on September 2. 29 women form 12 election subjects participated in the event.
