Officials of the Central Election Commission (CEC) and Training Centre met with the Regional Director for Europe and Eurasia, Beata Martin-Rozumiłowicz of the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), and Keti Maisuradze, Chief of Party of the IFES, Georgia Office.
Parties discussed the possible use of new technologies in the 2021 municipal elections. The discussion tackled positive expectations as well as challenges related to the adoption of technologies.
As noted at the meeting, special importance is paid to the transparency of the process, communication with stakeholders, and maximum consensus in terms of decision-making; as well as educating commission members, informing voters, and raising their awareness.
As IFES representatives noted at the end of the meeting, the organization is ready for close cooperation in the implementation of pilot projects in terms of active involvement in the above process and technical support.
