Central Election Commission (CEC) of Georgia is the President of the Association of European Election Officials (ACEEEO). Georgian Election Administration will lead the ACEEEO for one year term, accordingly Georgia will host the next 29th Annual Conference in 2020. The mentioned decision was made at the ACEEEO General Assembly Meeting attended by Giorgi Sharabidze, Deputy CEC Chairperson and Natia Zaalishvili, Director of the CEC Training Centre.
CEC Deputy Chairperson and Training Centre Director participated in the 28th ACEEEO Annual Conference in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The topic of the conference referred to the “Judicial protection of electoral rights and the transparency of elections”. Giorgi Sharabidze, participated in the panel discussion on “Judicial Protection of Electoral Rights – Practical Perspectives”. Deputy Chairperson delivered the presentation on Georgian EMB experience in election dispute resolution and election with courts.
Annual conference was conducted on September 24-26, representatives of ACEEEO member EMBs and international organizations working in election field attended the event.

ACEEEO with 25 year experience conducts annual international conferences, which focus on wide variety of themes including transparency of elections, media and elections, electoral technology, campaign finance reform, citizens' participation in the process. These meetings are important for election professionals who are faced with managing, administering, and mediating electoral events in challenging circumstances.
In 1991, senior election officials, government and civic education leaders, and academics gathered in Budapest, Hungary, for the Central European Electoral Systems Symposium. This historic meeting led to the founding of the Association of Central and Eastern European Election Officials.
