Giorgi Sharabidze, Deputy Chairperson of the Central Election Commission (CEC) and Nino Berulava, Deputy Director of CEC Training Centre, participated in the 18th International Electoral Affairs Symposium at the invitation of the International Centre for Parliamentary Studies (ICPS). The event was held in the Republic of Maldives.
The parties discussed important electoral issues at the International Symposium. They also tackled existing challenges, ongoing projects, and adopting best practices in different areas. Key topics ranged from voter rights to minority rights, best practice of cooperation between electoral stakeholders, combatting misinformation, and existing challenges in terms of social media.
Representatives of various election administrations, international organizations, the academia as well as international experts and members of Parliament of European Countries took part in the event. The Symposium was organized by the ICPS and the Elections Commission of Maldives and held on July 3-5 2019.
