On September 27, 2018, the Centre for Electoral Systems Development, Reforms and Training and the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia concluded a Memorandum (available in Georgian) of Cooperation. Natia Zaalishvili, the Training Centre Director and Ivane Papiashvili, Rector of the MIA Academy, signed the Memorandum.
As part of cooperation stipulated in the Memorandum, the Training Centre and the MIA Academy will develop awareness raising and training program for representatives of law enforcement authorities and members of election commissions. The focus of the activities will be electoral security. Up to 44,000 members of election commissions and up to 8,000 representatives of law enforcement bodies will take the training course
The Training Centre and the MIA Academy awareness raising and training programs on electoral security are offered to other electoral stakeholders as well – representatives of local observer organizations, political parties and mass media.
Giorgi Sharabidze, Deputy CEC Chair, Giorgi Javakhishvili, CEC Secretary and Keti Maisuradze, Head of IFES Georgia took part in today’s event. They underscored the importance of the initiative set out in the Memorandum directed at raising civic awareness and supporting peaceful electoral environment.
