On the occasion of Global Elections Day, Sokhumi State University students visited the Election Administration of Georgia. Law faculty students met with Tamar Zhvania, the CEC Chairperson and Natia Zaalishvili, Training Centre Director. Ms Zhvania singled out the importance of the elections and drew youth attention to the voters’ and electoral stakeholder’s involvement in election processes. Ms Zhvania also discussed with students the activities of the election administration carried out by the CEC for improvement of the electoral environment. Chairperson also tackled the educational projects where the target audience were young voters.
Within the framework of the event, Lasha Meladze, representative of the CEC Training Center conducted seminar on “Informed Young Voter”.
Dean of Law faculty of Sokhumi State University, Professor Vepkhvia Gvaramia was also present during informational meeting with students. Mr. Gvaramia noted that cooperation between the CEC, its Training Center and university certainly supports awareness raising of young people on election issues.
At the end of the event, young people visited exhibition on election history and library.
Global Elections Day is held annually in the first Thursday of February.
