The meeting with the representatives of international and local organizations working on gender issues was held at the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Georgia on September 25, 2017.
The CEC Chairperson Tamar Zhvania opened the meeting. Natia Zaalishvili - the director of Training Centre - attended the meeting as a member of Gender Equality Council.
The participants were provided with the information about the planned/implemented activities in the field of gender equality and women empowerment carried out by the Election Administration (EA) for the October 21, 2017 Municipal Elections.
Zurab Khrikadze, the CEC Member and the Chairman of Gender Equality Council delivered the information on the gender statistics, including the statistics of the unified list of voters, candidates nominated by election subjects, observers, accredited media and persons employed at the EA.
The participants emphasized the importance of information received on the meeting. They positively evaluated Election Administration’s activities towards promoting gender equality and expressed their willingness to actively cooperate with the EA in this regard.
