About 500 young people attended the 10 day learning course, “Electoral Development School”, elaborated by the CEC and Training Centre. Young people from 23 municipalities of Georgia received information about electoral systems, democratic election principles, and electoral bodies in Georgia, electoral stakeholders, transparency and accessibility of elections, gender equality and the European Parliament. Members of the District Election Commissions (DECs) and trainers of the Election Administration (EA) conducted the training.
On July 28, the participants were awarded certificates of the course. Today, Tamar Zhvania, Chairperson of the Central Election Commission (CEC) attended the final part of the learning course at Zestafoni School. “The school serves to the promotion of elections and boosts the youth involvement in electoral processes. The great interest of young people showed us that the electoral development school has brought a very important result for the third year and we will do our best to ensure that you have comprehensive information on election issues and even more interest in elections, "Tamar Zhvania said.
The project is implemented by the CEC and its Training Centre in cooperation with the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) and with the financial support of the Council of Europe (CoE).
