CEC of Georgia and the Training Centre conducted training of trainers (ToT) of “Electoral Development School”. Special training course was held for 48 trainers during 5 days; after the ToT they will be able to conduct the learning course for “Electoral Development School”.
ToT was conducted for the members of District Election Commissions (DEC) and the trainers of Election Administration (EA). The training was implemented by the representatives of the CEC Training Center. The trainers discussed important topics including: election systems, election administration, democratic electoral principles, elective bodies in Georgia, electoral stakeholders, transparency and accessibility of elections, gender equality and elections of European Parliament.
This year, the electoral development schools’ project will be implemented in 23 municipalities (Gurjaani, Sighnaghi, Telavi, Akhmeta, Rustavi, Gardabani, Marneuli, Dusheti, Gori, Akhalgori (Tserovani, IDPs settlement), Borjomi, Akhaltsikhe, Ambrolauri, Sachkhere, Zestaphoni, Kutaisi, Samtredia, Ozurgeti, Senaki, Zugdidi, Poti, Batumi and Kobuleti). The project aims at promoting elections through increasing civic participation and promoting elections among youth.
“Electoral Development School” is being implemented by the financial support of the Council of Europe. The project is being conducted by the CEC and its Training Center in cooperation with International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES).
ToT was conducted during June 8-12.
