A meeting of the Standing Working Group on the Issues of Persons with Disabilities was held at the Central Election Commission (CEC).
Giorgi Santurian, Head of the Working Group opened the meeting and emphasized that ensuring an inclusive electoral environment and creating equal conditions for all voters is a priority for the Election Administration.
Giorgi Santuriani spoke about the activities implemented during the 2024 Parliamentary Elections that aimed to promote the participation of persons with disabilities in the electoral process. The meeting participants were also informed about the preparation process for the October 4, 2025 Municipal Elections, including new regulations and decisions adopted by the CEC. As part of the meeting, a demonstration of the electronic vote counting machine was also held.
The Working Group on the Issues of Persons with Disabilities has been functioning at the CEC for many years, with the goal of supporting the creation of an equal electoral environment for voters with disabilities.
The group is composed of representatives from the Election Administration, as well as representatives of local non-governmental organizations, state agencies, and the Public Defender’s Office (including invited representatives from relevant bodies working on disability-related issues).
