Under the co-project of the Central Election Commission of Georgia and Ministry of Corrections and Legal Assistance large-scale educational program was planned for the staff of penitentiary system and prisoners with voting rights.
Under the auspices of the CEC and Ministry, Center of Electoral Systems Development, Reforms and Trainings and Training Center of Correction will carry out the said educational program.
Project consists of three stages:
I stage – retraining of penitentiary system staff (ToT)
II stage – Educational program for 18 Penitentiary Institutions Staff (14 penitentiary institutions in East and 4 in West Georgia).
III Stage - Informing of prisoners with voting rights
On September 18, I stage started; representatives of Center of Electoral Systems Development, Reforms and Trainings and Training Center of Correction introduced prisoners with election process organization in penitentiary institutions, placement rule of agitation materials, information of prisoners with voting rights, reviewed voting procedures of prisoners in details.
Participants were provided with additional materials prepared by Center of Electoral Systems Development, Reforms and Trainings and Training Center of Correction.
In order to improve level of prisoners’ awareness and full realization of their voting right, corresponding information booklets were prepared, which will be spread by the administrations of penitentiary institutions.
