Awareness-raising and training course “Elections and young Voters” continues. It will cover 73 public schools during May 13-17
As of present, this training project has been implemented at 72 public schools. As part of the training, 11-12th graders were acquainted with such important topics as: historical overview of elections and modern times, elections and democracy, key principles and international standards of holding elections, gender equality, election administration and voters, other electoral stakeholders. The training program involved debates through the participation of youth. The above-mentioned component is a novelty in the curriculum and aims to promote the development of the culture of debates among students.
At the completion of the course, the students held mock elections to identify a winning slogan out of the slogans developed by the students about promoting environmental issues.
The CEC and the Training Center has been implementing the above-mentioned project in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Sciences, Culture and Sports of Georgia, since 2015. The above-mentioned initiative is aimed at promoting enhanced electoral awareness and raised civic responsibility among youth.
