The following working meeting “Discuss Together” initiated by the Central Election Commission (CEC) was held with the representatives of civil society organizations (CSO).
Tamar Zhvania, the CEC Chairperson made opening remarks at the meeting. Ms. Zhvania informed CSO representatives on the statistical data on the process of composition of election commissions. Thereafter, meeting participants talked about the recommendation made by the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODHIR) to the Election Administration (EA) concerning the composition of election commissions. CSO representatives expressed their opinions and presented recommendations on the above-mentioned issue.
Working meeting “Discuss Together” as a part of the CEC initiative was held for the second time. Representatives of non-governmental organizations, who were registered for the 2018 Presidential Election as observers and who also have joined the principles defined by the “2018 Code of Conduct of Election Administration and Local Observer Organizations” attended the meeting with CEC and Training Centre headofficials. Representatives of international and donor organizations working in the electoral field participated in the working meeting.
The CEC new initiative “Discuss Together” aims at discussing and exchanging positions with CSOs on electoral issues. Joint analysis of the mentioned topic will support developing a common vision on electoral issues.
