Election Administration of Georgia presented the interim report of October 28, 2018 Presidential Election of Georgia to the local and international observer organizations and media representatives. The report covers activities implemented by the Election Administration (EA) of Georgia during August 1 – October 1.
Tamar Zhvania introduced invited guests the activities carried out for the October 28 Election. In 2018, the CEC upgraded the online registration program capacities and in addition to parties who could previously use the program to appoint their proxies and PEC members, for the first time domestic organizations for the presidential election are given alternative, simplified option to register their observers as well. The CEC Chairperson talked about on voter information campaign, capacity building for EA staff, organizing the election processes, electoral and civic education programs, inclusive electoral environment, cooperation with electoral stakeholders and other important topics.
“Our activities refer those learning and training program, organizational issues that are related to the conduct of the Presidential Election in the country. The report covers all training programs that serve Election Administration capacity building, as well preparing electoral stakeholders with the updated methodology. This year, there was a special emphasis on young voters and their activities. In addition, all services suggested to the persons with disabilities, ethnic minorities, electoral stakeholders and each voter, that support their electoral participation in a free environment are reflected in the report”- stated Tamar Zhvania to the journalists.
