Meeting of permanent members of the working group on Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) was held at the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Georgia. Tamar Zhvania the CEC Chairperson opened the meeting and talked about activities implemented by the CEC for ensuring an inclusive electoral environment for October 28, 2018, Presidential Election of Georgia. Tamar Zhvania informed meeting participants on monitoring of adapted election precincts as well as on services offered for the realization of voting rights of PWDs on E-day. Ms. Natia Zaalishvili, director of Training Center delivered information on implemented educational projects and grant competition to working group members.
Sophio Sitchinava, Head of Working Group and the CEC Coordination, Planning and Reporting Department, based on 2018 Action Plan, discussed the activities envisioned for promoting equal electoral environment for PWDs and noted three main directions of the action plan, including informing PWDs, increasing the capacity of employees of the administration, and maximally considering the needs of PWDs when equipping election precincts to be implemented. At the same day, members of the group presented their own recommendations.
It is noteworthy, that on the initiative of the election administration such meetings are being regularly held to improve the inclusive electoral environment.
