On April 25, 2018, awareness-raising teaching course "Elections and Young Voters" has ended. The CEC and the Training Center implemented the mentioned teaching program at 108 public schools in five self-governing cities (Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Poti, Batumi, Rustavi).
This year, 1857 11th and 12th grade public schools students took awareness-raising and teaching course and received relevant certificates. As part of the program, the participants were familiarized with such important matters as: historical overview of elections and present context, elections and democracy, election administration and voters, other electoral stakeholders. At the end of the course, students held mock elections, as part of which a winning slogan developed for promoting environment protection produced by students was identified.
The CEC and the Training Center have been implementing the mentioned Training Program in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Sciences of Georgia since 2015. It is aimed at enhancing electoral awareness of youth and promoting raising civic responsibility. To date, over 5800 students from 349 public schools have taken the awareness-raising and educational course Elections and Young Voters.
