Today, an MOU has been concluded between the CEC of Georgia and the Ministry of Interior of Georgia. It is aimed at supporting holding of elections in a peaceful environment. Safe and peaceful electoral environment involves ensuring conditions that will enable the realization of constitutional right of voters without violence and pressure and provides a guarantee for electoral stakeholders to implement their activities in a full-fledged manner.
As part of the cooperation, CEC Training Center has designed a training module for members of the Election Administration; the modules stipulate effective communicaiton forms between election administration and law enforcement bodies for electoral security, as well as the means for managing risks to ensure unimpeded process of the polling process and ways for responding.
The Training Center, in cooperation with IFES and the MIA representatives, has introduced the Electoral Security trainign module to the trainers of Election Administration, at the trainings held during August 29 through September 19 in Kvareli. According to the trainings concept developed by the Training Center, trainers, in turn, will train the members of district and precinct election commissions around the above-mentioned matters.
Notably, an MOU between the Election Administration and the MIA was concluded for the first time last year. Based on the MOU, the parties have held joint activities towards security of Parliament 2016 elections, including trainings and workshops.
