Natia Zaalishvili, the Training Center Director participated in the International Conference – “Voter Education for Inclusive and Informed Participation in Elections” held during October 19-21, 2016, in New Delhi, India. The aim of the Conference was to share best experience, practices and new initiatives in the field of elections. Ms. Zaalishvili attended the Conference following the invitation from the India Election Commission.
At the Conference, the Training Center Director made a presentation on Promoting Electoral/Civic Culture in Georgia and briefed Conference participants about awareness-raising and educational programs implemented for various target groups of voters (prezentation is available at the following link).
Delegates from various countries of the world participated in the Conference, including leadership of Electoral Administrations of the USA, Mexico, Canada, Austria, Malaysia, Namibia, Kenya, Brazil, Fiji, Indonesia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Lesotho, Maldives, Mauritius, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri-Lanka, Thailand, Tunisia, Uganda, as well as representative of international organizations, such as International IDEA, UNDP, IFES, and other organizations.
Conference delegates met with the President of the Republic of India, who underscored the importance of the enhancement of electoral culture for the democratic processes. As part of the Conference, a joint declaration setting forth guiding principles for ensuring effective education of voters was also adopted.
