The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Georgia won the Election Management Award. Tamar Zhvania, the CEC Chairperson was awarded at the annual International Electoral Awards Ceremony held in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The CEC was nominated with the Cook County Clerk's Office, USA and District Election Officer & District Magistrate, Surat – India.
Election Administration in nomination “Election Management Award” presented a tailor made unique software - Election Process Management System (EPMS). EPMS manages and monitors election processes. EPMS was developed by the CEC IT Department within the electoral support project of European Union and UNDP in 2011 and was firstly utilized during 2012 Parliamentary Elections. After 2012, various activities have been performed to improve the software. This user-friendly software constantly supports the election administration to work efficiently: timely receive voter turnout figures on E-day, transmit data and publicize election results. EPMS is aimed to contribute election administration to plan and implement election processes, change the information and coordination among all level of election administration; manage human resources effectively and generate electoral statistical data.
International Electoral Award has been organized for several years by the U.K.- based International Center for Parliamentary Studies (ICPS) within the framework of International Electoral Symposium. Tamar Zhvania, the CEC Chairperson and Natia Zaalishvili, Director of the Trainings Center attended the 11th International Electoral Affairs Symposium. Improvement of EMBs’ training methodology, transparency in election financing, election dispute resolution and other election related topics were discussed at three-day symposium. Tamar Zhvania, in panel discussion on election dispute resolution shared the successful experiences and existing challenges with this regard.
