On September 16, a working meeting between the officials of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Georgia, Centre for Electoral Systems Development, Reforms and Trainings (Training Centre) and the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia (MIA Academy) was conducted.
Safe conduct of the voting process and the importance of effective communication among the Election Administration and law enforcement bodies were emphasized at the meeting. Giorgi Kalandarishvili, the CEC Chairperson and Ivane Papiashvili, Rector of MIA Academy discussed the collaboration mechanisms that should be ensured to inform the policemen and election commission members on election security issues.
Natia Zaalishvili, the Training Centre director presented the information-learning program “Elections and Security”. The program shall be implemented in cooperation with the MIA Academy and covers the issues on identifying the risks to ensure secure election processes before the polling and on the E-day, as well as discussing legislative regulations on preventive measures and responsive mechanisms on violations.
The managerial staff of the structural units of MIA will participate in the program. Informational meetings will be conducted remotely on 17-18 September.
Giorgi Sioridze, Deputy Chairperson and Teimuraz Maghradze, Deputy Rector of the MIA Academy attended the meeting.
The Training Centre in cooperation with the CEC conducts training courses on election security module that will support effective communication with the law enforcement bodies.
