The Election Administration started preparing the training of trainers (ToT) for the project “Electoral Development School”. Prior to the training, Tamar Zhvania, the CEC Chairperson welcomed the participants. “Electoral Development School” which will be held for the first time this winter, will run from February 17 to 28.

District Election Commissions’ (DECs) members and CEC staff will undertake the training from February 10 to February 13 and then will be conducting a study course at the “Electoral Development School”. Electoral Development Schools will be launched in eight cities – Tbilisi, Telavi, Rustavi, Gori, Akhaltsikhe, Kutaisi, Zugdidi, and Batumi. Young people aged 18 to 25 will study electoral issues.

The representatives of the Electoral Systems Development, Reforms and Training Centre are conducting ToT. Following the course, the trainers will teach young people in the Electoral Development Schools such important topics as electoral systems, election administration, elections of the Constituent Assembly of 1919, democratic electoral principles, electoral bodies in Georgia, electoral stakeholders, transparency and accessibility of elections, gender equality and more. “Electoral Development School” is constantly developing and the following topics have been added to the curriculum this year: electronic voting devices, elections and surveys, disinformation and spreading false information during the election period.

The project is made with the support of the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) and aims to promote civic engagement and popularize elections among young people.
