Study Project ''Elections and Young Voters'' Was Implemented in Public Schools

The CEC and the Training Centre successfully completed a large-scale study project "Elections and Young Voters" in public schools of Georgia from February 17 to March 21, 2025, which is another step towards developing a democratic electoral culture in Georgia and shaping the future generation of Georgians into active voters. The project covered 360 public schools located in 64 municipalities.

Within the framework of the program developed by the CEC Training Centre, students of XI-XII grades received information on the following key issues: the essence of elections in the process of country’s democratic development and the importance of the role of voters; history of the development of democratic elections in Georgia and modernized elections; basic principles and international standards for conducting democratic elections; inclusive electoral environment and gender equality in the electoral process; elective state bodies; Election Administration and election services offered to voters; parties involved in the elections and their role in the process of conducting democratic elections; the importance of an electoral environment free from hate speech and disinformation.

7604 students from 360 public schools (4438 women; 3166 men) completed the informational-study course, among them, 1166 students (679 women; 487 men) from 56 public schools located in municipalities densely populated by ethnic minorities (Telavi, Lagodekhi, Sagarejo, Gardabani, Rustavi, Marneuli, Bolnisi, Dmanisi, Tetritskaro, Tsalka, Akhaltsikhe, Akhalkalaki, Ninotsminda) participated in it.

The project implementation was ensured by 101 trainers trained by the Training Centre. The young people evaluated the informational-study program positively.

The project has been implementing since 2015, it aims to raise youth's electoral awareness and promote civic responsibility. To date, the program has been completed by approximately 41104 students of XI-XII grades from 2066 public schools located in 64 municipalities.
