Informational Meeting with the Representatives of Foreign Embassies and Delegations Operating in Georgia

On September 29, 2021 Giorgi Kalandarishvili, the CEC chairperson and Natia Zaalishvili, the Training Centre director held an informational meeting with the representatives of Foreign Embassies and Delegations operating in Georgia on the issues related to October 2, 2021 .

The CEC chairperson emphasized the important initiatives and activities, implemented by the Election Administration to ensure transparent and safe environment for the elections.

During the meeting the Training Centre director discussed main legislative amendments, polling day procedural and epidemiological regulations, including issues related to ensuring the voters’, temporarily residing in stationary medical facilities and isolation, participation in the elections. Furthermore, the participant were provided with the information about the CEC’s and the Training Centre’s activities regarding professional trainings of election commissions, informational campaign for voters and electoral stakeholders, inclusive electoral environment, supporting credibility and security of elections, including the mechanisms aimed at preventing spread of disinformation and hate speech.

Meeting participants were also introduced to the operating rules and procedural updates adopted for the pilot project to be implemented for October 2 Elections in N4 Krtsanisi electoral district, using electronic technologies.

The informational meeting was held in online format and was attended by 14 representatives of Foreign Embassies and Delegations operating in Georgia, among them: United Arab Emirates (charge dáffaires); Switzerland (deputy head of mission); Lithuania (minister plenipotentiary); Kingdom of Sweden (first secretary-Political Affairs and Sweden Promotion); Canada (Second Secretary (political)); Netherlands (political officer); Italy (mission representative); Japan (mission representative); Moldova (mission representative); European Investment Bank’s Regional Representation for the South Caucasus (head of mission); Office of the UN Resident Coordinator (RCO) in Georgia (head of office a.i.); International Criminal Court (ICC) Country Office (chief of office); NATO Liaison Office in Georgia (political officer); The International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) (mission representative).
