Training Courses for Potential Women Candidates Are Finished

The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Georgia and its Training Center conducted training courses for potential women candidates from September 25 to September 27.

69 participants underwent a training course and got acquainted with various important topics related to October 21, 2016 Municipal Elections, namely:

  • Gender equality issues in elections;
  • Electoral system of local self-government bodies;
  • Mechanisms for implementation of passive suffrage;
  • Summarize election results and distribution of mandates;
  • Pre-election campaign and administrative resources;
  • Electoral disputes.

Participants were handed a guidebook "E-Day Procedures" prepared by the Training Center and a document prepared by the CEC Legal Department regarding the amendments made to the Election Code of Georgia.

The informational-learning program aims at encouraging women's active participation in the election process and promoting their awareness on election issues.
